Election Day countdown: 82 days
Friends, we did something big this week.
We raised $1.3 MILLION from over 2,400 donors from 41 states and territories, orchestrated by organizers whose average age is 33, to support 10 key Senate candidates who can flip the Senate! The candidates said that this was the highest raise of a Zoom event this cycle. This is what is possible when we make political giving more accessible. It is a part of how we will do right by RBG and win the Senate.
In 2016 I chose to not work for Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin because I believed others would get the job done. I now look back and realize that it takes all of us. That is why, this cycle, I left my job in SF and committed myself to The Next 50. On November 4th, let's not wake up wishing that we could have done more with our money, our skills, or our time; rather, let's rejoice in our opportunity to build a more just and inclusive democracy with the extraordinary leaders that we met last night.
A special thank you to Manny Yekutiel of Manny's in SF and Sara Bahat who are extraordinary visionaries, partners and great friends. We do more good when we do it together. Politico recognized it, too :)
With deep gratitude and in partnership,
Zak

What we are reading
America’s unraveling: “In a dark season of pestilence, COVID has reduced to tatters the illusion of American exceptionalism. At the height of the crisis, with more than 2,000 dying each day, Americans found themselves members of a failed state, ruled by a dysfunctional and incompetent government largely responsible for death rates that added a tragic coda to America’s claim to supremacy in the world. ” (Rolling Stone)
Re-industrializing America: “Neglecting to quickly safeguard the access and integrity of American supply chains and information networks in the face of successive warnings would be a costly strategic mistake and a blow to U.S. national sovereignty.” (Foreign Policy)
A daughter of immigrants: “Kamala Devi Harris, the daughter of an Indian mother and Jamaican father, on Tuesday night became the first woman of color and child of two immigrants ever nominated for vice president of the United States.” (The Nation)
In solidarity,
Zak
