We are making a major commitment
Last week, CNN featured The Next 50 and major announcements about our 2022 plans.
We decided to double down on our commitment to young, down-ballot candidates in swing districts.
We will support 50 young (<45), down-ballot candidates in swing districts, with a focus on the states that we anticipate will have competitive U.S. Senate and gubernatorial races in 2022.
Received an initial $1M+ in pledged support for these candidates by 2022.
Launched a Leadership Council featuring:
Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14)
Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01)
Congressman Ruben Gallego (AZ-07)
Colorado Secretary of State and Chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State Jena Griswold
Former Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer (IA-01)
Former Mayor of Stockton, California Michael Tubbs
Former South Carolina State Representative and CNN commentator Bakari Sellers
AAPI Organizer Linh Nguyen
Civil Rights Activist Nialah Edari
Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer also joined The Next 50 as a senior advisor.
The Leadership Council members represent our vision for the next generation of politics. They will help inform our strategy and, at times, be surrogates for our organization and the candidates who we support.
Let us know who your favorite swing district candidates are, running for everything municipal office to the U.S. House. We cannot wait to get to work with you, in support of them!
What We are Reading
"The Next 50 is committed to removing barriers to public service and ensuring that running for office or launching an organizing effort in a competitive district is not restricted by the power of a person's network or how much money they have access to.” (CNN)
