Candidates have three major unmet needs
We are about to announce how we will help meet them
In lieu of sharing an event that we are hosting this week, we want to share a couple led by friends, which you can find beneath my signature.
Hi friends!
We have some *very* exciting announcements coming this week. But first, we want to share some just-released research from our friends at the Pipeline Initiative who surveyed state and local candidates on their experience running for office.
In Focus
Part of the Pipeline Initiative’s research centered on the types of support candidates receive from outside groups vs. what they actually need.
The top three forms of support that down-ballot candidates say they need more of:
Volunteers for their campaigns
Help raising money for their campaign from others
Exposure to new donors and donor networks
The Next 50 has focused its work on solving two of these unmet needs:
Raising money for their campaigns
Providing exposure for these campaigns to new donors and donor networks
If you are reading this, you most likely have donated to and/or volunteered for a campaign before. This research suggests that we can make a high-impact investment with our time and money in these down-ballot candidates and still have a strong up-ballot effect, as we learned in the recently released research from Run for Something.
What We are Reading
“Biden’s success is a product of the crucial yet little-appreciated insight that substantive advances don’t require massive public fights.” (New York Magazine)
